Mild Winter started as a collaboration between Melanie and Ben in the early fall of 2006. We had both started writing the songs that would become the first EP but they just didn't feel complete. We decided to work together to finished the material we had been working on over the past two years.
After we got a few songs together we started recording our first EP called Don't Be Nervous. We asked Ryan to play drums on the album, and got opinions from other friends on filling out the songs. We finished the EP in January and started playing shows in March. In May of 2007 we asked Nik Combs to join the group as a full time member and began writing new material.
Over the summer Mild Winter was put on the back burner so Melanie and Ben could fix up their new house and finalize plans for the wedding. We were married on August 4th 2007.
After settling back in from a crazy summer, we began playing shows again and continued to write and finalize our new cd. In late October we started recording A Wanderer's Home. Our good friend Michael Estes helped us with the artwork, supplying photographs from his cross country travels. We released the CD February 8th 2008 at Common Grounds EMU.
We are currently playing shows and are preparing to record some new material in the not so distant future.
